With a 33cc engine, this trimmer is probably one of the most powerful 2 stroke out there. I bought it because I needed a strong trimmer to go with my edger attachment (I had read previously that smaller engines would jam with this attachment because they didn't have enough kick). So the first time I used it, I put it to the test: my yard was way overgrown and between the trimming and edging, I had the PP133 working at full throttle for a good two hours...and it delivered. At 12,000 RPM, this is one mean trimmer! Used with an edger attachment, it kicks dirt like nobody's business! So much in fact that after edging my drive way and sidewalk, my legs were covered in blood (tip to myself: wear a pant, or some sort of protection next time). What a difference from my previous 20 cc Weedeater! With that being said, this trimmer has plenty of flaws; so on to the pros and cons:
PROS:
*This trimmer has some serious power
*Easy start
*`kill' button on the handle for quick and easy shut off
*Attachments capable (Poulan or other)
*Comes with a can of oil and spare strings
*Low price
CONS:
*It goes thru a lot of the precut .115 strings (I've read the reviews suggesting the .130 line; I'll try that).
*Precut strings are hard to find
*Vibrate quite a bit
*Heavy trimmer
*Weird head system (no spool, you have to unclip a little plastic cover, remove the old string and feed the new one thru three holes while making sure that you have the same length on each side). It's a simple process, but it gets old quickly as you have to replace the string quite often (maybe the .130 string will help)
* The plastic guard on the trimmer is close to useless if you're right handed, and it's not adjustable either. Because this trimmer spins counterclockwise, everything is kicked right at you and you get hit in the legs and face a lot.
*Gas thirsty!
Despite all the flaws, I give it three stars because it packs a good punch which is what I need. With a stronger string, this could be a 4 stars. With a stronger string and a better head system, it would be a 5. I would recommend it to whoever has a need for a powerful trimmer (make sure you wear safety glasses and pants). For light applications look somewhere else as this would be too much trimmer.

Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) Review

Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant)

I previously owned an electric blower and then I had the Poulan Pro PPB300E that worked fine for the first couple of times I used it. Then for the next two years it was very hard to start, the engine would not run properly and had to keep it running mingling with the throttle and choke, and when it ran it did not seem to blow as it should have. Now it finally gave its ghost, the engine locked up. Since it was not worth fixing it, I went out and bought the Husqvarna 125B
I had a few surprises:
- At the first touch I noticed how much lighter is than the Poulan. After mounting the air pipe and nozzle, although is so light, it feels "solid".
- The starting rope can be pulled very easily. In fact so easy that at the first pull, I put my back into it and pulled so hard that I reached the end of the rope probably and the handle just flew out of my hand. I know... you're not supposed to do that, but it didn't seem to have hurt it.
- It started at the third pull, which I think is great for a brand new motor.
- Thereafter, I stopped and restarted as I was cleaning the yard several times, and every time it started at the first pull.
- The air speed and the blowing pattern seem to be very good because the dirt blows away really fast, significantly faster than the other blowers I used.
- I love the throttle being mounted on the handle as it gives you nice control over the air speed, especially when you are close to the finish and try to pile up the dirt. Also I love that it has a "cruise control" lever, which you can move to get the desired speed and then you don't have to hold the throttle, which is helpful on larger areas.
I see nothing wrong or that I would liked changed yet, so the only question remaining is how long it will last.
One note: I really do not see what is the difference between the 125B and 125Bx. The 125BVx is the same but comes with a vacuum kit.

Follow-up note: August 5, 2011
I thought it may be worth noting that more than two year later the blower still works just as well as it did the first day.
No problem whatsoever, no maintainance of any kind, just filled the tank, done the work.
Although it doesn't start ALWAYS at the first pull anymore (when it's cold), the second or third (worst case) will do it. Still runs great and surely doesn't look its age.
When I'm going to need any other gardening tools, I will definitely stay with the Husqvarna brand.

Husqvarna 125BVx 28cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered 170 MPH Blower/Vac With Smart Start Review

Needed a new blower vac (well, wanted would be a more accurate description) and was torn between the Husky and the Stihl 86 C-E. Was lucky enough to have a neighbor who also wanted one, so we worked out a deal where I would buy both and then sell him the one I didn't want for the price I paid (plus a case of beer).
So, picked them both up. Hard decision, but after a couple of weeks of use, I went with the Stihl. A summary of what I found to be the major points for each:
Build quality - both are excellent. The Stihl feels a bit more stout, but the Husky is no slouch.
Starting - again, pretty much a dead heat. No problems with either one when starting cold or hot.
Comfort - slight edge to the Stihl. The anti-vibration handle does work well, and it generally feels more comfortable to use. It's a close call, however - I can see where the Husky could feel better for some people.
Blowing - again, pretty much a dead heat. I couldn't tell the difference even though the Stihl's specs are a bit better in terms of air flow volume. Both got the job done very well.
Vac - this is my main use for this machine, and the area that swung me over to the Stihl. The shredder blade is more robust in the Stihl, and it can tackle a larger volume of material faster and easier than the Husky. While the Husky was a lot more clog resistant than the Echo I tried, it did clog up once on me, whereas the Stihl just kept chugging along.
The Stihl costs more, but in my area is easier to get serviced. You'll want to check in your area for service places for the Husky. If service is available and you mainly want to use it as a blower, save a few bucks and get the Husky. It's an excellent machine that, with proper care (especially when it comes to gas) will give you years of good service. However, if you want to mainly use it as a vac, the extra money is well spent on the Stihl.
I'll give it five stars, but 4.5 stars is a more accurate rating due to the vac performance.

Bought this item about 10 days ago,(Poulan Pro 17-Inch 25cc Gas Powered String Trimmer #PP125), after I've sent another weedeater back that was hard to start. The first weedeater I bought was a curved shaft and it was very hard to start and keep running. So I was a little hesitant to purchase another one from amazon. Once I opened the box all I had to do was attach the 2 pieces together and also attach the safety guard. It took about 3 minutes to put together. Also if buying the attachments, you will be able to switch them with no problem. Also if you take your hand off the throttle, the weedeater will stop, and the engine will still be running (nice safety feature), and when you put your finger back on the throttle, the weedeater will be ready to start trimming again. I actually bought mine for $99.00 shipped when Amazon had their weekend sale. I think this is a really good weedeater at $150.00, but at $99.00 it's even better.

Nylon Trimmer Blade for Stihl # 41110071001 Flail Trimmer head Blades 12 pack Review

Nylon Trimmer Blade for Stihl # 41110071001 Flail Trimmer head Blades 12 pack

I used these blades one time so far on my Stihl FS45 trimmer. The good? They come in a pack of 12, which is a logical number since there are 3 blades in use at a time. The bad? Unlike the Stihl brand which appear to be made from a softer nylon, these blades seem much more "plasticky" and in one use, I literally sheared off pieces of 2 blades. I don't have a particularly big yard or a lot of rocks to trim around but I will now need to replace the blades after 1 use. I used to get a few trims out of the Stihl blades. Sometimes you can be pennywise and pound foolish--here's an example of trying to save $ only to end up with an inferior product to the original.

Very pleased with this purchase, great value, hard to believe this comes with a 7 year warranty!
First things first, it is light-weight compared to my old Poulan. It's not feather weight, but for the power, I don't think it gets much better. I ran the machine for 45 minutes straight. (I have almost two acres of mostly trees and a lot of fencing). My arms were tired, but the fact I could run the machine that long without my arms falling off is remarkable.
The engine and power transmission are very smooth with little vibration. You can set the unit down on the ground while running without it bouncing away. Throttle control is perfect and precise. You will be running this unit at half-throttle most of the time, unless you like stripping bark of your trees.
String feeder works fine, I had to bump it a few extra times, but I was using the line that came with the machine. Note to self, order a spool of string, they only load with a few feet. I have not had a chance to load string, so I can't tell you the process on that.
I took down a 20'x20' weed infested garden in about 15 minutes, mostly full throttle all the way. It has the power when you need it.
The only hiccups I could complain about is the on-off switch is in a bad location. I inadverntly turned the machine off three times. However, staring it up was a joy. One pull in choke position, and a second pull in open postion and your off and running. Plus, no smoke!
Also, the shield is not much of a shield, get on the wrong side of the trimmer and you will get sand blasted with grass and mud.
All and all, you can tell the quality of this is very high and with 7 years of future abuse ahead, I think it will be no problem at all.
