I can't speak to the product itself, but it did advertise as being compatible with all Black & Decker electric Trimmers, and it was in fact not compatible with my Black & Decker 9-Inch 1.8-AMP Electric Grass Trimmer #ST1000. Pretty frustrating.

Swisher E4-U3000 Shindaiwa 24.5cc E4 4-Stroke Power Multi-Tool Review

Swisher E4-U3000 Shindaiwa 24.5cc E4 4-Stroke Power Multi-Tool
Average Reviews:

This Swisher-branded tool is the private label version of the standard Shindaiwa multi-tool head. Shindaiwa makes the best commercial trimmers and brushcutters, period. Nothing against other excellent brands, like Stihl (which I also own) and Echo, but in this tool category, Shindaiwa is better. I've owned the Shindaiwa-branded version for 5 years, and it has been dead reliable. The Swisher version appears to be identical. Every part is top-quality. The engine starts quickly and easily, even after storage, it warms up quickly, and it accelerates quickly. The takedown mechanism is very solid - there is no play whatsoever when it is fastened.
The Swisher version, and the Swisher-branded attachments for the head, sell for less than the Shindaiwa versions, too. Highly recommended.

Excellent backpack leaf blower. Not at all heavy and gets the job done. It has more then enough power to get the average job done and it also gets the big jobs done as well. It's worth the money if you have a large lot and need to clear leaves and other stuff often. I wish I had spent the money years ago after seeing how much time and effort it saves me durning spring and fall clean ups.

Fiskars 9210 Long-Handled Swivel Grass Shears Review

Fiskars 9210 Long-Handled Swivel Grass Shears
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I hate to heap mockery on some of the reviewers' statements below, but I have found immediate gratification with this set of long handled shears. They, to be polite, are all fulla beans.
In fact, my wife has agreed that we need a second pair, so she can use them when I'm obsessing with this pair.
Down the list of criticisms that turned out to be so much hot air:
LIGHT, not heavy. Very controllable, not fatiguing at all.
Very sharp, right out of the box.
Easy to balance with the front handle -- this is a two hand job, if you're going to be trimming more than a snip here and there -- and I didn't find any need to stoop or bend over at all. I'm only six feet, though, so perhaps some of the negative reviews were written by retired NBA folks.
FAST, FAST, FAST delivery. To tell the truth, with some of my experiences of late with Amazon, I was astonished to see it in my carport just two days after ordering. TWO DAYS, people! Ready to use, right out of the box, too!
There are some negatives. I have NO idea how I'll sharpen the blades, but, with the slight expense, I can afford to toss 'em in a landfill for future generations to deal with and buy another.
Anybody wanna buy a used Ryobi string trimmer?
EXCELLENT product. Do as I did, and take the negative reviews below with tablespoons of salt, heaps of salt, and order a few. I'm terrifically glad I did.
UPDATE June 08: Use these almost daily, when things are growing. Actually they were easier to put a newish edge on than I anticipated. They are a bit hard to keep clean, but that is mostly me, I'm afraid. I'd buy a pair if I were you, and I am hard to please (see other reviews under my name.)

Solo 471 53cc 3 HP 2-Stroke Gas Powered Commercial Grade Backpack Blower With Tube Mounted Throttle Review

Solo 471 53cc 3 HP 2-Stroke Gas Powered Commercial Grade Backpack Blower With Tube Mounted Throttle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
That Solo makes great equipment is no secret - That Solo makes the BEST backpack blowers just might be... The Solo 471/472 are really, truly, very high quality commercial equipment that simply work better and harder than just about every other Large blower out there.
IN the past I've used most of them, including the usual competitors for 'top spot' among most landscapers, the Stihl BR600 and the Redmax 8000/1, Echo, etc... And while they all have their strong points, none of these seems to get it all right like these Solo's.
For instance, the Redmax blows pretty hard no question, but no harder than the 471 (the 472 is stronger) and the airstream is much harder to direct, they are REALLY a lot heavier (35lbs to the Solo's 20), very, very loud, and they have had a lot of issues lately including recalls, design problems and now the Husquavarna merger which is generally agreed upon to be a very, very bad thing... I'm pretty sure we're going to keep on hearing of the problems with these things. Some earlier models were more reliable, but not in the same class as the Solo's. The Stihl '600 is VERY popular, but again if you read a lot of reviews and opinions about this type of equipment you see the same sort thing. Continual complaining about the 4MIX engines, not nearly as powerful as the hype would have you believe, some pretty cheap plastic build quality and again and again you hear people saying that they prefer older, less powerful models (like the tried and true BR400) from this company for reliability factors. I don't really like mine, although it is much easier to use and direct than the Redmax line.
The Solo line-up is smaller, just three blowers, one hand-held and two almost identical backpacks, but a long history of design with backpack equipment (Solo also makes A LOT of the very best sprayers - since like the 50's or something...) and to be honest, I think that they are smarter for it. They certainly have all of the bugs worked out. I've not spoken to anyone yet with any problems at all. The two BP models have almost all identical parts. Easy to get too. Of the largest blowers, they are the strongest (see below)and the lightest -21lbs or so... with fuel... which by the way, gives you 2 hours on a single tank! And it meets the California standards....(noise AND emissions)
They are also know as EXTREMELY quiet machines (64db), which is a huge problem with all other manufacturers. Leaf blowers are notorious in this regard and this figure alone probably puts them on top for a lot of people. REally comfortable to use for long periods of time.
The specs are all usable, end of tube figures too(235/255 mph and 700+/900+ cfm's) which is a huge help when comparing - not to mention when working... Really, there isn't a lot wrong to say about these things. More and more of the pro's are switching over after bad experiences with the bigger companies. Solo makes their own stuff, and it really works well. And to finish, they a a little less expensive too...
Hard to argue with that!
I did SO MUCH research before I bought my newest blowers and these things continually amaze me. Simply better designed than any blower I've used.

Average Reviews:

I wanted to get rid of my Stihl gas-powered blower (took too much maintenance), and thought this might do the trick. Boy, it sure does! I plugged in a 100-foot heavy-duty extension cord (it comes without a cord, which is great--you plug an extension cord directly into the back) and turned it on and was surprised by its power. A very strong stream of air blasted the oak leaves hither and yon. It is light, so you won't get tired lugging it around, and it doesn't deafen you or burn you with exhaust gasses and doesn't pour out vile blue oily smoke like a gas blower. Also you don't have to drain the fuel and run the carburetor dry for storage. Well worth the money.

Felco F-2 Classic Manual Hand Pruner Review

Felco F-2 Classic Manual Hand Pruner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ever since I got my first Felco pruner, I will not even consider buying any other brand. Not only do they work better than any other brand, they are simple to take apart and clean and replace worn parts. They are even relatively simple to sharpen, although it takes a slightly different touch than your pocket knife or chef's knife.
The bottom line is that they work really, really well for years, even without sharpening. Their scissors action is much better than the anvil style. This F-2 model is the most general purpose design and I use it on virtually everything.
I will suggest that if, like me, you have relatively small hands, the smaller F-6 model is slightly more comfortable and easier to use for most work. I have both and use the F-6 for heavy duty end of the year pruning and the F-2 throughout the summer for average pruning jobs.

The Felco F-2 Classic Manual Hand Pruner has acomfortable, light, sturdy handle made of forged aluminum with a limited lifetime guarantee. The blade is made of high-quality hardened steel, which allows clean, precise cuts. The sap groove prevents the blade sticking when cutting "sappy" wood. It saves time and makes pruning easier by removing sap and debris after each cut. The Felco Classic Pruner is easily adjustable. Hand and wrist protection and optimization of the force exerted are provided by the angled head, the ideal shape of the handles, and the cushion-shock absorber / non-slip coating.

Chapin 62000 Tree/Turf 4-Gallon Pro Commercial Backpack Sprayer With Brass Wand Review

Chapin 62000 Tree/Turf 4-Gallon Pro Commercial Backpack Sprayer With Brass Wand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I go through Round-Up like crazy since we live on 5 acres and my better half is finicky about keeping the property landscaped and neat. I've gone the Home Depot/Lowes route, and even bought a battery powered sprayer that was pretty cool but simply too heavy. The best ones lasted a couple of years before they either started leaking or wouldn't hold pressure, and forget about buying parts and repairing. The great thing about Chapins in general and this model in particular are the brass wand, the Constant Flow Valve, the pressure gauge on the wand, and the fact you can completely disassemble, lubricate, and repair any part of the sprayer. A key test for a sprayer is to fill it, and then tip it upside down and sideways to see if it leaks. The Chapin has O-rings and gaskets everywhere there is pressurized liquid. If they leak, you simply replace them or re-lube them with a little Vaseline. Also compare the quality of the hose, fitting, and wand assembly. What is even more remarkable is the Chapin is no more expensive than the sprayers that will break or wear out sooner. You can tell just from the design and materials the folks at Chapin take pride in their product.

I got my kit and installed it right away(very easy). I went straight out behind my house and started using it. It cut great(extremely sharp). The next day I went to cut some trees up that were down from the recent tornadoes we had. I then let a freind use it for a minute and he also loved it and is ordering him one as well. We cut up two full Pecan trees and it never slowed down. After we were done , I said lets just see how this sharpener works. (coolest thing I've seen in a while). It was simple and easy.. I almost beleive it was sharper after using the sharpener than when it was new. I am going order another one for my other saw.By the way, my saw I use now is a Stihl "mini boss". Thanks so much for a great product,

With the Oregon PowerSharp Starter Kit, you can now sharpen your chainsaw chain on the saw, on the job, in seconds. This kit is designed for 18-inch Craftsman, Homelite, Poulan, Poulan Pro, and other chainsaws. No need for special tools or expertise, no need to remove the chain; in three easy steps, you can have a precisely sharpened chain. The starter kit comes complete with a PowerSharp chain, bar-mount sharpener, sharpening stone, and guide bar--everything you need to have your chain cutting once again with ease and precision.
From Dull to Sharp in Three Easy StepsThe PowerSharp offers a new alternative to sharpening a chain manually on your own, taking it to a shop, or trying to make due with a dull chain.
When your chain becomes dull, simply attach the bar-mount sharpener to the PowerSharp bar by sliding the steel pins through the guide holes--there's no need to remove the chain from the saw. Close and latch the cover and then start the chainsaw. While accelerating the chainsaw, press the foot of the sharpener against a solid object, applying light pressure for three to five seconds. The large, spring-loaded, treaded foot allows you to apply controlled pressure, even against uneven surfaces. Within seconds, you're back in the cut with a precision-sharpened chain.
Precision Sharpening Mechanism Can Be Used Multiple TimesWith steel pins that go straight through the bar, the design of the PowerSharp sharpening system ensures that there is exact alignment between the cutter and the honing surface, for perfect angles and knife-sharp edges. The thick, crescent-shaped sharpening stone provides a long-lasting honing surface.
The guidance drive link works together with the cutter, cutter depth gauge, and depth gauge tie strap to provide the stability required to create a consistent cutting edge. The chain and the sharpener work together, as a diamond-coated dresser link resurfaces the stone, ensuring optimum honing angles.
Designed to last as long as conventionally sharpened chains, each PowerSharp chain can be sharpened from 5 to 15 times, depending on conditions. A new sharpening stone is included with each new replacement PowerSharp purchased and should be replaced. This kit is for 3/8-inch-pitch low profile chain, .050-inch-gauge cutting systems with 62-drive links.
Portable Sharpening System The PowerSharp Starter Kit is small enough to fit into your toolbox, and light enough to carry with you, so you'll always be ready to sharpen a dull chain. Though the four components of the system are lightweight, they are extremely durable. The bar-mounted sharpener has a highly visible yellow casing that prevents misplacing the sharpener in the field, even in low light.
The Oregon PowerSharp Starter Kit is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship.

Ordered one trimmer with credit card, and was billed for two. Called at once. They promised to send a return authorization number & label right away. Said they would immediately refund the extra amount. Ad stated "Do not return without authorization."
Many phone calls later, each with assurances of sending return authorization & refund, it never occurred.BEWARE - this is a small time outfit with no scruples. Each time I call I receive the usual "all our operators are busy...etc." but the same person always answers & I always get the same supervisor. After several calls requesting the promised return authorization & shipping label, they refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor - "Not available."
Their ad states "Buy direct from manufacturer!" BUT, the product is made in China and company (for return authorization) is in Carolina. Product is drop shipped drom Connecticut. Factory Reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 25.4cc Gas-Powered Variable-Speed Hand-Held Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher
Average Reviews:

After reading all the reviews I decided to take a chance with a reconditioned Ryobi blower. Why? Ryobi gas engines are some of the best in the business, bar none. I had one that was 20 years old. It only stopped working because one of the plastic gas lines deteriorated due to age. Other than that, the engine still ran strong.
The reconditioned unit arrived with all new attachments. The engine looked in new condition. No sign or smell of gas in the gas tank. The only downside was the casing was dirty and scratched on the bottom. This is a nit after a season of blowing grass clippings and leaves.
The engine kicked in with about 3 pulls the first time. One pull is all it took after the first start out of the box.
Hard to beat the price and value of this blower with an outstanding and relible reputation of the Ryobi gas engine.

Husqvarna 128L 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Straight-Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) Review

Husqvarna 128L 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Straight-Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Did a LOT of research online and in stores, only to be disappointed several times before finding the Husqvarna 128LDx (same as 128L, but with detachable shaft to allow for accessories)
My old Ryobi bit the dust, and the new ones in the big box stores are junk. I can't believe how downhill they've gone. Pain in the neck to assemble, no more multiple choke positions for when it starts varnishing up over time (even with proper maintenance, fuel treatment and storage). I put the new one I purchased back in the box and promptly returned it to the HD big box store.
I then looked at (and actually purchased and returned after reading instructions and learning more about them) the Echo and MTD (4-stroke). The Echo I bought had the kind of head where you put small pieces of string into the head easily, and then replaced the pieces when they broke off while trimming. This seemed too much a hassle to always have to stop and replace those pieces (however simple) everytime you hit a chain link fence or landscaping block. Some of the higher end Echo's are pretty nice, and were in 2nd place for me, but talking to a number of people in the know gave the nod to the Husqvarna. The Echo's have great motors, but a tendency to have string jams, meltdowns, etc. The Husqvarna is the easiest to add more line to, and is known to be bulletproof in that area.
The 4-stroke MTD seemed like a sweet idea, but when I read the instructions and learned about the maintenance (you need to have feeler gauges and be able to adjust the valve-lash -- not something your average joe homeowner really wants to mess with). Plus, I heard that the durability may not be there. Certainly seems there are good reasons that people who use these things professionally stay away from the 4-strokes (heavy and lack of durability).
So finally came upon the Husqvarna. Solid reviews whereever I went, and known for WORKING. Great, powerful motor that is easy starting and long lasting. Fairly light weight, trimmer head is a bump head that's very easy to refill. Straight shaft, professional style trimmer that I got for an even two bills at the dealer -- who set it up for me, got it running/adjusted perfectly and showed me all the ins and outs.
Other notes: Decent sound level -- not all that loud. Does not smoke -- Etec II engine is pretty clean for a two stroke. So far I am very pleased!
